New research from the Pew Research Center says that a record number of Americans are living in multigenerational family households. They report that in 2014, 60.6 million people, or 19% of the U.S. population, lived with multiple generations, all under one roof. Multigenerational living is defined as a household that includes two or more adult generations, or one that includes grandparents and grandchildren. The most common type of multigenerational household consists of two adult generations, such as parents and their adult children. That group composed of 29.7 million people in 2014.
