The U.S. government is reporting that privately‐owned housing starts in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,560,000, which is 14.8% higher than October’s revised number and is 9.3% higher than one year ago. November’s rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 404k. Privately‐owned housing units authorized by building permits in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,460,000, which is 2.5% lower than October’s revised number but is 4.1% higher than one year ago. Authorizations of units in buildings with five units or more were at a rate of 435k in November.
