The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.3% in January, 2024. The all items index was up 3.1% for the 12 months ending in January. Once again, the index for shelter was the largest factor in the monthly increase in the index – contributing over 2/3 of the monthly all items increase.
