The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.2% in August, 2024 (same as July). The all items index was up 2.5% for the 12 months ending in August. The index for shelter rose 0.5% in August (the 7th consecutive month of increases) and was the main factor in the all items increase.
