The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) was up 0.3% in April, 2022. However, the all items index was up 8.3% for the 12 months ending in April, continuing a 40-year high streak. See chart below.
“Increases in the indexes for shelter, food, airline fares, and new vehicles were the largest contributors to the seasonally adjusted all items increase.”
