The U.S. government is reporting that sales of new single-family houses in August, 2019 were 7.1% higher than July’s revised rate and 18% higher than in August, 2018. The median sales price of new houses sold in August was $328,400 and the average sales price was $404,200. The seasonally-adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of August was 326k representing a 5.5 months supply at the current sales rate.
