The U.S. government is reporting that total construction spending in May, 2024 was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2,139.8 billion, which is 0.1% lower than April’s revised number. However, May’s revised estimate is 6.4% higher than one year ago. Residential construction came in at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $918.2 billion in May, which is 0.2% lower than April’s revised estimate.
