Black Knight Financial Services recently released their January, 2017 Home Price Index (HPI) reporting that U.S. home prices were up 5.4% year over year in January and up 0.1% for the month. In addition, home prices in three of the nation’s 20 largest states (Massachusetts, New York and Washington) and nine of the 40 largest metros hit new peaks (Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Kansas City, MO; Nashville, TN; Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA; and Seattle, WA). The Black Knight HPI utilizes repeat sales data from the nation’s largest public records data set, as well as its market-leading, loan-level mortgage performance data, to produce one of the most complete and accurate measures of home prices available for both disclosure and non-disclosure states.
