According to a report from Mobile Alabama’s WKRG TV 5 (and various news outlets) a Pensacola woman was recently arrested and charged for allegedly peeing on and damaging furniture items causing over $5k in damages in two Airbnb properties. A report from the Pensacola Police Department says one Airbnb owner filed a criminal mischief complaint in mid-March regarding damage made to her rental property. Apparently, one of the smoking guns for the alleged damage included a video on an adult website showing a woman urinating in the unit and causing damage. The suspect, Nicolette Keough, was released from the Escambia County Jail on bond. She has only been charged and is innocent until proven guilty. Stay tuned…
The owner told officers that someone sent her a message on the Airbnb app, claiming her then-current guest, identified as 31-year-old Nicolette Keough, had peed on multiple items in the unit on North Guillemard Street.
Later, the owner allegedly found a video on an adult content website that showed a woman peeing in the unit and causing damage.
The owner documented the damage with photos and reported a strong odor of urine in the residence, according to Pensacola police.
She reportedly found that an antique Crown Royal chair, rug, typewriter, four dining room chairs, coffee maker, bed, TV, record player, toaster, and electric fireplace needed to be replaced, amounting to $3,980 in damage.
The responding officer then arrested Keough and charged her with damage to property -criminal mischief.
A police report said that Keough allegedly peed on other items at another Airbnb owned by the same person on the same street.
Airbnb issued a statement on the matter;
“This kind of behavior has no place on Airbnb. We’ve removed the guest from our platform and are continuing to assist the host with their reimbursement request through our AirCover damage protection for hosts. Property damage incidents during Airbnb stays are rare, and our hosts are backed by our 24/7 global Community Support and AirCover, which are included with every reservation.”
