According to Apartment List’s National Rent Report for July, 2026, national median rent increased 0.4% in June to $1,385 – marking the 5th consecutive monthly increase. In addition, rent prices nationally are down 1.2% compared to one year ago and the national multifamily vacancy rate currently is 7.2% – decreasing for the first time in over four years.
