The National Association of Realtors is reporting that existing home sales increased 3.2% in May, 2026 to a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 4.17 million. Total housing inventory at the end of May was 1.55 million units, up 3.3% from April and up 0.6% from one year ago. Unsold inventory sits at a 4.5-month supply at the current sales rate. The median existing-home price for all housing types in May was $429,300 – the 35th consecutive month of year-over-year price increases.
“More Americans are on the move, with home sales rising to the highest level since December. This is great news for the housing market and the economy…improving affordability is helping drive this momentum.” Said the NAR’s Chief Economist, Lawrence Yun.
