The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) was up 1.3% in July, 2022. However, the all items index was up 8.5% for the 12 months ending in July. Interestingly, the BLS says the gasoline index fell 7.7% in July and offset increases in the food and shelter indexes, which resulted
in the all items index being unchanged from the previous month.
