The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4% in March, 2024. The all items index was up 3.5% for the 12 months ending in March. The index for shelter and gasoline rose again in March. The BLS says that, when combined, these two indexes contributed over half of the monthly increase in the index for all items.
