The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.3% in September, 2025. The all items index was up 3% for the 12 months ending in September. The index for gasoline rose 4.1% in September and was the largest factor in the all items monthly increase. In addition, the BLS pointed out that September’s CPI data was completed before the current Senate-induced government shutdown.
