The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.2% in July, 2024. The all items index was up 2.9% for the 12 months ending in July. The index for shelter rose 0.4% in July (the 6th consecutive month of increases), accounting for nearly 90% of the monthly increase in the all items index.
