Last month we had a post about Generation Z entering the housing market and this month we’re discovering where they want to live. A new report from RENTCafé says small towns in the heartland of America are now trending for Generation Z renters. Yes…that’s right… they’re renting now but who knows for how long. RENTCafé says this emerging cohort, aka Zoomers, is the fastest-growing active renter segment in the U.S. and their locations of choice are just the opposite of their Millennial predecessors. Indeed…
“Surprisingly, the trending locations preferred by Gen Z are small towns in the heartland, in the Midwest as well as in parts of the South, favored not only for being more affordable, but also for offering a vibrant local scene that feels authentic and closer to home for these young adults who are starting out in life in times of great uncertainty and change.”
Just so you know; Generation Z is the generation born between 1997 and 2012 – 2015 (apparently that hasn’t been finalized yet) and there are approximately 68 million of them in the U.S.
