According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, total nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 23k jobs in July, 2026. The BLS said both the unemployment rate of 4.1% and the number of unemployed people, at 6.9 million, changed little in July.
